Denon Smart S-302 and Smart S-102 DVD systems launched

Home cinema gets connected

NEWS: 18 September 2007 15:13 GMT by Stuart Miles

Denon has launched two new home entertainment systems under its Smart S series.

The two new models; the Smart S-102 and Smart S-302 plan to offer consumers a home cinema in a box with the minimum of cables to connect.

Costing £1250 the S-302 will sport a HDMI connection, 1080p upscaling, Wi-Fi for streaming from a PC and a 2.1 speaker system.

Promising "enhanced audio performance", Denon say the S-302 features new technology Audyssey Bass-XT and Dynamic EQ for greater bass response without having to rely on a subwoofer the size of a house.

The S-302 boasts an amplifier section with 50-watts per channel, a 100-watt amplifier for the subwoofer and two flat profile three driver, two-way speakers which can be stand or wall mounted.

The S-302 will also allow users to connect USB drives to the device as well as stream music from a PC or MP3 player. Users will be able to view track details via a custom designed Denon interface and control menus via the included remote.

There is also a 3.5mm jack on the front of the unit for adding MP3 players.

The DVD drive is the same one that is found in the company's DVD-2930 player.

Costing £800, the S-102 will offer the same DVD playback, 1080p upscaling via HDMI. However won't offer Wi-Fi, USB connectivity and network streaming.

The 2.1 speaker system will also be slightly downgraded to 35 watts per channel, a 100-watt amplifier for the subwoofer and two flat profile two-way speakers which can be stand or wall mounted.

Both models will be available later in the year.
