WEBSITE OF THE DAY - respondingheads

Make way for your very own desktop buddy

NEWS: 25 September 2007 0:00 GMT by Ian Hughes

You all know that we like a freebie here at Pocket-Lint. We also like a freebie that allows us to do something that we always wanted to do but never thought we would. This little widget takes me straight back to my childhood and (showing my age, here) Max Headroom.

Max was a talking head; a virtual smartarse who offered his pearls of wisdom across the ether to a generation of impressionable young Friday night TV viewers.

Since then I've always secretly wanted my own little talking head, and guess what. Now I can.

This is a clever little bit of freeware which allows you to talk to an animated character on your desktop vis the MS speech recognition engine. Not only will he understand you, he'll also do your bidding. So if you want to open your email or browser, just ask.

Do you reckon anybody will mind if I call mine Max…?
