WEBSITE OF THE DAY - untainted.com A commercial outlet for unsigned bands
24 October 2007 0:00 GMT / By Ian Hughes
According to a news report last week, new music bands are struggling to find names for themselves. It made for great headlines ("the who?" etc) but it illustrates just another hurdle for wannabe rock stars.
One of the hardest things is to get your music out to a commercial audience.
MySpace has allowed bands to showcase their work, but they've had to provide their music for free. Great for fans, but not too clever for impoverished musicians.
Untainted.com aims to rival the more famous outlets, but it will allow artists to sell their music through a social networking site.
So, in theory, everybody wins. The fans get to hear great new music (before anybody else) and the bands themselves don't go broke before hitting the big time.
Now, where's my copy of Guitar for Dummies gone...?
