SanDisk to launch TakeTV media player

Retailer leaks reveals new product

A Buy.com leak has revealed that SanDisk is planning to launch a new media player that will offer a super easy way to play videos.

The "Sansa TakeTV" a new modular system that comprises of a customised 8GB flash drive and a unique video dock, designed to be portable.

Video clips copied to the TakeTV through the operating system are automatically recognised in the dock (including DivX and xVid formats) and browsable via an included wireless remote.

TakeTV will work with any operating system, but will include special features for Windows Vista and XP with access to a beta "Fanfare" service that lets users download full-length movies and TV shows.

Less intimidating that a network media hub, and quicker than burning DVDs, it looks to be a promising product. An official announcement is expected soon.
