MySpace to publish a book

Green guide for teens coming next year

NEWS: 26 October 2007 10:39 GMT by Amy-Mae Elliott

Social networking site MySpace is to expand its reach from the virtual into the real world by publishing a book.

The topic of the tome will be the environment, and it will be aimed at teenagers, titled "MySpace/Our Planet: Change Is Possible".

The book will offer facts, tips and practical suggestions for green teens and it will be released in March next year in the lead-up to Earth Day on April 22.

MySpace users can submit ideas for the book at www.myspace.com/ourplanet and those who make it through to print version will be credited with their MySpace username and location.

"How great it is to launch a partnership with a company with as large an influence as MySpace on such an important topic", Jane Friedman, CEO of HarperCollins, the publisher partner for the project.

"MySpace has entire online communities, such as the Impact Channel and OurPlanet, dedicated solely to environmental and social causes", Tom Anderson, president of MySpace.

"The first MySpace book is just one more way we are working to engage the MySpace community in environmental issues and encourage people to take action."
