Post Office to launch broadband service

For silver surfers and cash payers

The Post Office is to launch a national broadband service via its network of 14,000 stores to attract mostly older customers.

The Post Office is to target consumers who want to pay in cash as well as customers between 50 and 65-years-old who are going online for the first time.

The service will launch on Monday October 29th and the hope is will sign up to 600,000 customers by April 2008 and 1.2 million by April 2010.

The service will offer speeds of up to 8MB through BT, which will provide the network and other support.
