Time names iPhone "invention of the year"

Apple's mobile gets accolade

NEWS: 2 November 2007 16:17 GMT by Amy-Mae Elliott

Time magazine has named Apple's iPhone "invention of the year".

Time said the honour was given to Apple's mobile because of its design, innovative touch screen, and potential for changing the tech industry's approach to mobile computing.

But it did point out what they saw as flaws too: keyboard can be hard to type on, "the gadget is too big for a mobile phone", no instant messaging, and it's locked to service provider AT&T.

"All the cool features in the world won't do you any good unless you can figure out how to use said features, and feel smart and attractive while doing it", said Lev Grossman, Time book and technology writer.
