Orange mobile music downloads increase 70% in 6 months

"Music is at the heart of Orange's entertainment strategy"

NEWS: 7 November 2007 12:59 GMT by Amy-Mae Elliott

With the UK launch of the iPod-capable iPhone just days away, Orange has moved to highlight their own music offerings and released mobile music download figures showing a 70% increase in sales over the past 6 months.

With this upwards trend in mind, Orange is expecting annual mobile music downloads to have more than doubled by the end of 2007, compared to the year before.

Offering a library of over one million tracks for mobile music customers to choose from, Orange has doubled full track download revenues since May earlier this year.

Richard Wheeler, head of music for Orange, said: "Music is at the heart of Orange's entertainment strategy, from our hugely successful partnership with Sony Ericsson and the Walkman phone to our involvement with mobileAct Unsigned and Glastonbury".
