Google has announced that it is allowing its Gmail users the chance to chat with AIM buddies from within the Gmail service.

The move means that users AIM contacts will appear intermingled among with their Gmail contacts.

The new feature will be available to the English version of Gmail first with the promise of other languages rolling out soon.

Google say that new feature is possible thanks to Gmail's new code structure.

The chat feature amongst Gmail users has been available since In February 2006 via the Gmail email service.
