Skype give High Quality VOIP calls to Leopard users

And you don't have to use a Logitech webcam

NEWS: 5 December 2007 1:25 GMT by Stuart Miles

If you've upgraded to Apple's new operating system and then found that Skype is "glitchy" the voice over IP company has come to your aid with a new version of the software out this week.

Although still in beta, Skype Version 2.7, which weighs in at around 34MB promises to fix the previous bugs reported as well as adding better video resolution.

According to Skype, video is now 640 x 480 pixels by default with up to 25 frames per second.

Skype recently announced the new "HQ" video setting in co-operation with Logitech for Windows PC users bumping up the quality of the video from 320 x 480 to 640 x 480.

At the time, both companies said that users looking to use the new HQ feature on other webcams will be disappointed, stating the new software would only work with three of Logitech's high-end webcams.

"We wanted to blow people away, so it was a natural choice to work with Logitech", a spokesman for Skype told Pocket-lint at the time.

However with this update, that exclusivity deal seems to have come to an end, just four weeks in.
