Hauppauge Digital has introduced what it describes as a low-cost, easy way to enjoy live TV on a PC, and to transfer home videos to DVD.

The new Hauppauge WinTV USB2-Stick is a plug-in TV receiver for laptops and desktop PCs. The receiver comes with all the cables to connect camcorders and other equipment to capture high quality digital video to disk.

When connected to a TV aerial the USB2-Stick tunes in to the terrestrial TV channels, turning any PC into a TV.

Programmes can be enjoyed full screen or in a resizable window. The included software allows programmes to be recorded to the PC's disk with a single click, or scheduled for recording later.

The WinTV USB2-Stick is supplied with a host of cables to connect camcorders and other analogue video equipment, including S-video, SCART and composite cables. The product creates high quality MPEG2 files on the PC hard disk which can be edited and copied to DVD.

Included is Ulead DVD MovieFactory software, an easy-to-use disc authoring and burning software. Owners can create DVDs with "studio-quality" personalised menus, add polish to their videos, with titles, music and effects.

Minimum PC requirements include a soundcard and speakers to watch TV, and a DVD-R or DVD-RW drive to create DVDs.

Priced at £49.99, the USB2-Stick is available immediately and is supplied with everything needed.
