Tiger Direct, a reseller in America, is suing Apple over the launch of its latest operating system OS10.4 Tiger.

The company claims that by using the name of the large cat Apple has "overwhelmed the computer world with a sea of Tiger references", displacing the reseller from Internet search engine results, and in turn materially harming its business.

Tiger Direct maintains it has held a number of Tiger-related trademarks since 1987.

The OS' launch will go ahead - a hearing to discuss the injunction request will not take place until next week.

Those not fussed or confused will be able to get a copy of the operating system now.
