"Apple" launches loco GPS module for iPhone

A surprise Christmas present for iPhonies?

NEWS: 20 December 2007 16:54 GMT by Amy-Mae Elliott

Aving is reporting that "Apple" has announced a GPS module, dubbed "loco GPS" designed for the iPhone, which uses Google Maps as its mapping software.

Obviously not the Apple, some cheeky company is risking some fast court action from the Cupertino company, who have shown in the past they're not afraid to sue.

With the satnav gubbins provided by a respectable SiRF Star III chip, the loco GPS is expected to be available in February 2008 for around $89.

It will only work on a jailbroken iPhone, and apparently testing for the unit to work with iPod touches is currently in progress too, so we would expect this to be a popular add-on when it does launch.

If the real Apple have not sued the manufacturing company into submission by then...
