High performance theatre sound from a PC Audio system is the promise being made of the latest sound system from Logitech.
The Z Cinéma system offers "advanced surround sound", and three-amplifier design in 2.1 system.
Cited to be an ideal solution for Windows Media Center, the Logitech Z Cinéma Advanced Surround Sound System features SRS TruSurround HD, "delivering a surround sound experience without the need for rear speakers", explains the manufacturer, as well as "a three-amplifier design, two-way satellite speakers and an 8-inch subwoofer".
The three-amplifier design uses hybrid amplification "to create a more natural, balanced listening experience for a desktop environment", continues Logitech.
It uses hybrid Class D and Class AB amplifiers to reproduce high-, mid- and low-range frequencies, and each amplifier delivers an independent, digitally equalized signal that minimizes distortion and creates a broad soundfield.
Logitech also claims it used laser tuning "to design a set of drivers that create far less distortion than those developed using only acoustic measurements".
The system is connected up to a PC using a single USB cable delivering a 24-bit digital audio signal.
It comes with a headphone jack, and a 3.5 mm auxiliary input that can connect to MP3 players or other audio devices.
