Samsung has announced the launch of new flash based 1080p HD camcorder hot on the heals of Sanyo, JVC and Panasonic at CES in Las Vegas.

The new camcorder, the SC-HMX20C can record footage in Full HD as well as snap still shots using the 8 megapixel sensor and comes with 8GB of built-in flash memory as well as the option of recording onto high-capacity SDHC/MMC+ card via the additional card slot.

The camcorder will also come with an included docking station that has a HDMI input and component connectivity to easily view home movies directly on an HDTV.

Attempting to be like the Casio Exilim EX-F1, the SC-HMX20C will allow consumers to record fast motion footage at 300 frames per second for up to 10 seconds and then drastically slow down the playback of the recording.

A 2.7-inch wide-aspect touchscreen LCD completes the device which is available in May 2008.
