CES 2008: JBL iPod Alarm clocks promises to wake you up

Charges your iPod while you charge your batteries

NEWS: 7 January 2008 23:47 GMT by Stuart Miles

JBL has launched a slew of iPod speakers at CES in Las Vegas this year including the JBL On Time 200ID time-machine iPod dock.

No it doesn't promise to take you back to the year the music was released but rather includes a digital clock, alarm and radio.

The JBL On Time 200ID loudspeaker dock supposedly "revolutionises time-keeping for the iPod" and comes with a large backlit LCD, as well as charging the iPod.

On the speaker side its Phoenix and Ridge transducers are driven by powerful neodymium magnets with two by six watts per channel and a 6-watt tweeter.

Seeing that the “iPod economy is stronger than ever," said Ron Okamoto, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations. “The JBL On Time 200ID system is a great way to ... wake them up.”

The JBL On Time 200ID system is compatible with all docking versions of the iPod, including the iPod touch, nano and G3 iPod classic.

It will cost around $199.95 and promises to be in the shops for Christmas.
