Backup option for Flickr users now available

Peace of mind for your online pics

NEWS: 11 January 2008 9:49 GMT by Katie Scott

People tend to put up the pics they are most proud of on sites like Flickr (or snaps to embarrass friends), and so losing these memories would be devastating.

But a new open source java application is now available which allows users to download their Flickr images to their hard drive on demand.

Users can then burn their images onto discs to keep forever.

Because the tool is Java, the developers say it will run on any computer, once a code to operate the application has been downloaded onto your machine.
