Sony Ericsson Empire Awards - entries needed!

Mingle with the stars

NEWS: 11 January 2008 12:21 GMT by Katie Scott

Sony Ericsson and film mag Empire is calling all budding film directors.

The 2008 Sony Ericsson Empire Awards are now open for entries and all wannabe directors have to do is remake their favourite film in 60 seconds (easy!).

Brief but beautiful movies must be captured using just a DV camera or your mobile phone.

And the winner will bag a trophy and £250 at this year’s star-packed Sony Ericsson Empire Awards to be held In London on March 09.

Entrants can choose any film they want but the team behind the competition has put together a set of creative guidelines, which are available online now.

Entries for the competition to be received no later than 11 February.

The judges will then shortlist the top five which will then be put under the scrutiny of the Empire readers.

"Films will be judged on their clarity (we should know which film it is), ingenuity (how you got round those tricky $20m special effects) and humour (come on, they can’t be that sensible!)", quips Empire.
