Yahoo Music service transferring to Rhapsody

RealNetworks team up announced

NEWS: 4 February 2008 14:17 GMT by Amy-Mae Elliott

With the industry awash with the news of Microsoft's bid to purchase Yahoo, the search engine company has quietly announced changes to its music services.

Yahoo Music will transfer over to RealNetworks' Rhapsody for its on-demand music, replacing the current Yahoo Music Unlimited offering for subscription-based services.

All Yahoo Music Unlimited subscribers will be offered the option to transfer their accounts over to Rhapsody sometime during mid-2008.

For a limited time they will pay Yahoo's subscription fee of $8.99 per month but will then be required to stump up the extra for Rhapsody's costs - currently dearer at $12.99 a month.
