Back in October last year, Steve Jobs promised, via a post on the Apple website, that the company would release a software development kit for the iPhone and iPod touch.

"We plan to have an SDK in developers' hands in February" were the exact words as regards timescale, so rumours of an Apple event scheduled for late-February are not surprising.

One Apple site reports that the company that does the television at Apple events is hiring for a big event later in the month, while two other blogs are talking-up an event scheduled for 26th February.

As well as the expected SDK, Penryn-based MacBook Pros with multi-touch trackpads have been hotly tipped to launch very soon, while a 3G iPhone is also rumoured after this week's news that AT&T are rolling out more 3G coverage in the States.
