Michael Bay on Blu-ray: I told you so

"No-one believed me"

NEWS: 14 February 2008 14:26 GMT by Amy-Mae Elliott

Hollywood director Michael Bay has made some public comments about the state of the format war that sound very much like "I told you so".

Bay made headlines last year by publicly criticising Paramount for going HD DVD exclusive just as "Transformers" was due a high-def DVD release.

He threatened not to make a sequel if the studio did not back Blu-ray and since called HD DVD a Microsoft "conspiracy".

So, not one to hold his tongue as far as opinions on the next-gen formats, he has again spoken out, this time gloating about Blu-ray's current levels of success.

At an award ceremony held by the Visual Effects Society, where he presented the award Bay is quoted as saying:

"Blu-ray’s better, and I told everyone", said Bay. "I was very vocal about it. I knew HD [DVD] was not going to make it."

"Am I thrilled? It really wasn’t my fight, but remember what I said in the press? I was kind of saying HD [DVD]'s going to lose... No one believed me."
