Logitech launches official Gran Turismo steering wheel

To drive you round the bend

NEWS: 21 February 2008 12:30 GMT by Katie Scott

Exciting news for all of you Gran Turismo fans - Logitech has just brought out the official wheel for racing round the game.

The Logitech Driving Force GT Wheel, which is 11 inches in diameter, is said to deliver force feedback, brake bias and traction control adjustment for PS3 owners.

Logitech worked with game developer Polyphony Digital on the wheel, and, as a result, designed a 24-position realtime adjustment dial for "on-the-fly" control of brake bias, traction and damper settings.

What this means it that the wheel simulates understeer, oversteer, and traction loss.

Also worth a mention are the full-size "gas" and brake pedals which deliver precise throttle and brake response.

Logitech adds that racers can use either the sequential stick shift or the wheel-mounted paddles to race through gears.

The wheel turns 900 degrees lock-to-lock and has anti-backlash gearing, so that there's no slack in the steering response, claims Logitech.

And the most important feature - a horn so that you can blast rivals as you show them your dust.

The Logitech Driving Force GT wheel is designed for use with Gran Turismo 5 Prologue on PS3, which will be available on Blu-ray Disc and as a download from the PlayStation Network in North America on 17 April and in Europe on 18 March.

The wheel is also compatible with Gran Turismo 3 and Gran Turismo 4 on the PS2.

The wheel will arrive in May and is expected to cost around $149.99.
