EA "Spore" going mobile

iPhone demo will become a reality this September

NEWS: 7 March 2008 15:41 GMT by Stuart Miles

EA has said that Spore, the new game developed by Will Smith, the creator of The Sims, will be coming to a mobile phones - and most likely the iPhone too - when the game launches on 7 September.

Although not 100% confirming the game would be appearing on Apple's iPhone following a demo shown at the company's recent event to unveil the software developers kit for the iPhone, a spokesman for EA told Pocket-lint that it would be "pretty safe to assume it would".

The comments also open up the possibility of the game coming to Nokia's N-Gage platform due to be launched in the next few weeks.

Spore gives players their own personal universe in a box allowing them to create and evolve life, establish tribes, build civilisations, sculpt entire worlds and explore a universe created by other gamers.

UPDATE: EA has now confirmed that it will be publishing Spore for the iPhone becoming the first third-party publisher to announce it will be making games for the phone.

In a statement sent to Engadget.com EA is quoted as saying that the company also "have other games in early stages of development".

We will keep you posted.
