Nike has revealed the design of its latest gadget for the fitness freak.

The Nike+ SportsBand will be available to buy from April for approximately $95 or £45.

It allows runners to record their pace, distance run and calories burned in exactly the same way as the original Nike+, but without the need for an iPod nano.

Running data can then be uploaded after a run via a USB connection to a PC or Mac.

The SportsBand, like the Nike+ system, still requires communication with a Nike+ shoe sensor, so online reports suggest that a sensor will indeed be bundled with it.

What you miss out on is the tunes though which takes quite a lot of the fun (fun?) out of exercising, and so is a distinct advantage for the Apple/Nike system.

We've not got an exact release date as yet but will keep you posted.
