Buffalo DriveStation Combo4 TurboUSB drive launches

New drive offers four types of interface

NEWS: 3 April 2008 11:26 GMT by Amy-Mae Elliott

Buffalo Technology has extended its family of DriveStation external storage products with the addition of the DriveStation Combo4 TurboUSB.

With four types of interface - eSATA, FireWire 800, FireWire
400 and USB 2.0 - Buffalo says the new drive is the most versatile HDD on the market and is "an ideal storage solution for both Mac and PC users wanting a high performance drive".

Two FireWire 800 ports enable high speed data transfer mainly for Mac users and the ability to cascade multiple drives.

For PC users, an eSATA interface boosts transfer
rates, making it quick and easy to move large files while Buffalo's TurboUSB technology claims to offer improved performance over standard USB 2.0 connections.

Memeo AutoBackup software, compatible with PCs and Macs, is included for continuous background backup and password protection.

Buffalo's Secure Lock Ware utility offers drive and file encryption for Windows users, and Time Machine is supported for Leopard users.

Supplied complete with FireWire 800, FireWire 400 and USB 2.0 cables, the DriveStation Combo4 TurboUSB is available
now from Amazon, Dabs and Misco at an estimated pre-VAT price of £79.00 for the 320GB model (HD-HS320Q), £93.00 for the 500GB version (HD-HS500Q) and £161.00 for the 1TB drive (HD-HS1.0TQ).
