Nokia handset gets makeover as "Buddha" phone

18 April 2008 15:56 GMT / By Amy-Mae Elliott

24 karat gold plating, a lump of jade for the main video button, the apparently accurate Buddhist symbols plus embedded recordings of Buddhist scriptures make this the phone for the modern Buddhist. Maybe.

  • My name is kelsang Pawo. I am a Buddhist monk and founder of the Gesar Foundation for children. www.gesarfoundation.org
My life style is that of the ancient Tibetan nomad, I rarely remain in one place for more than two weeks but I always must carry a telephone to answer calls from the media.
May I suggest a promotion between Nokia and the Gesar Foundation, both would benefit from a poster campaign and I would not have the expense of a telephone, which ultimately must come from the children's fund.
I look forward to hearing from you
