Dell shows tiny green PC

"It's the right thing to do"

NEWS: 24 April 2008 9:05 GMT by Amy-Mae Elliott

At a green showcase event Stateside, computer giant Dell has shown off its contribution to the small green PC market.

The eco product, that is nameless right now, will presumably be coming to market at some point, although no firmed up timescales appear to have been revealed.

The claims with this mini desktop PC is that not only is it 81% smaller than your average mini-tower, but it is 70% less energy-consuming.

As well as the energy saving benefits, the PC will be shipped in recycled and recyclable packaging.

"I think it's the right thing to do", said Dell CEO Michael Dell. "These are important issues. When you think about our industry, we produce 260 million computers a year. There's a responsibility that comes with that."
