Microsoft and Hyundai-Kia announce in-car infotainment partnership

Next-gen, voice-controlled mini PCS coming in 2010

NEWS: 6 May 2008 11:21 GMT by Amy-Mae Elliott

Microsoft and Hyundai-Kia Automotive Group (HKAG) have announced they have entered into a long-term agreement to co-develop the next generation of in-car infotainment systems.

Microsoft and HKAG say they will deliver "new and innovative solutions" based on the Microsoft Auto software platform, bringing the future of in-car technology to Hyundai-Kia drivers worldwide.

The first product, a next-generation infotainment system that provides voice-controlled connectivity between mobile devices, will be introduced in the North American market in 2010.

With plans to expand into multimedia and navigation devices, the next-gen infotainment offerings are described as comparable to mini-PCs with new functions and upgrades available via software program updates.
