MSN gets new environmental channel

One-stop shop

NEWS: 6 May 2008 15:55 GMT by Amy-Mae Elliott

As part of ongoing changes and updates to the MSN portal, Microsoft has unveiled its new MSN Environment channel.

The offering is described as a "one-stop shop" for people who want information and resources on the environment and green issues, with news and videos, eco tips, interactive tools as well as exclusive features by environmental champions Bernhard Warner and Matthew Yeomans.

The new channel also includes tools such as the carbon calculator, which helps users assess their carbon impact, and a maps page, which utilises 3D and 2D maps to highlight areas of the planet most affected by issues such as global warming, animal extinction and pollution.

As well as blogs, additional key features of MSN Environment include:

- Editorial on the latest environmental news and videos and insightful features to help you stay green
- Green community - message boards where users can share environmentally-friendly hints and tips with like-minded people
- Take Action - tools to calculate your carbon emissions and water usage, enter a green pledge, or find out about green events and activities happening in your local area
