Microsoft to unveil cashback searches

Will pay users for not Googling

NEWS: 21 May 2008 17:37 GMT by Amy-Mae Elliott

Microsoft is expected to unveil new plans for users of its search engine who buy products online to get cashback rewards, as an attempt to usurp Google as the market leader of internet searches.

Under the scheme users will make savings on products sold by Microsoft's advertiser partners the cashback offerings that will be credited either via an online bank account, PayPal or even cheque. The amount is said to be between 1 and 5% of the purchase price

It is expected advertisers will be interested in the service as they will only pay per user purchase rather than per click through, the current business model.

Expected to be a US-only service at launch, we'll bring you more news when we have it.
