Asus, riding high on the Eee notebook PC, will launch a desktop PC version called the EBOX at Computex in Taipei next month.

The details, although sketchy, leaked to The Inquirer, suggest that the new desktop model will arrive on the 3 June at the start of the computer show and contain a 160GB hard drive, 2GB ram and as with the laptop range, run Linux OS as standard rather than Windows XP or Vista.

Like the Eee, the design of the EBOX looks to be simple and almost Nintendo-like it is approach.

Rob Kerr over at the industry news site suggests that the new desktop could be packing the new Intel Atom processor as it will be officially launching in devices that day.
