Samsung has launched a new mobile phone called the L870 that will come with Apple’s Safari browser found in the iPhone.

The new handset due out in Europe in August later this year will run the Symbian S60 operating system and will feature Apple's Webkit-based, Safari browser so far only seen on the Apple iPhone.

Although not "touch"-enabled the device will allow people to use the browser to surf the web.

On the spec front, the new slider phone will be 13.5mm thick and come encased within a stainless steel body with hairline pattern.

Sporting HSDPA connectivity there is a 2.4-inch QVGA TFT display, a 3-megapixel camera, FM radio with RDS, music player and Bluetooth v.2.0.

There will be 100MB internal memory with a microSD slot for expanding it further.

In February, Google revealed that it had seen 50 times more search requests coming from Apple iPhones than any other mobile handset.

The figures were so high that the search company initially thought they had made an error compiling the data.

UPDATE: The Safari browser feature appears to be a misunderstanding, the L870 will not feature the Apple Safari browser.

  • Safari browser will consumer a lot of power and resource to slow down system performance while performance is worse than other browser.
The key is application and serviced integrated to the phone which samsung never understand.

I read an article at Forbes.com, "LifeInPocket™ symbolizes the first mobile application/services platform to provide nearly all cell phones with a greater array of functionality than the iPhone. Those features include GPS, navigation, location messaging, friends/family locator, and much more."

And downloaded the app and services (for free) for my Motorola Razr at http://mobile.roadcomm.com/ and I don't need all those expensive phonese and services anymore!
