Philips 9600 Ambilight FlatTV series gets UK launch With prices from £999

Philips has announced the launch of the 9600 Ambilight FlatTV series - in 32-inch, 37-inch, 42-inch and 47-inch sizes - in the UK.

These are the first models to feature the latest 2008 version of the company's Perfect Pixel HD technology that doubles processing power to 500 million pixels per second.

Also included in the new 9600 series are the fastest LCD panels currently available with 100Hz Clear LCD technology and a 2ms response time.

There's 12 bit colour input, 17 bit colour processing that offers a palate of 2.250 trillon colours, dynamic contrast ratio of up to 30:000:1, integrated digital tuners and four HDMI 1.3a+EasyLink inputs.

The latest version of Philips' ambient lighting technology Ambilight Spectra makes an appearance in the series. In addition to identifying dominant onscreen colors and projecting them from the rear sides of the TV set on to the wall, Ambilight Spectra can also adjust the timing of the systems' LEDs to enhance the motion of onscreen images.

Sound-wise, the 9600 series features an invisible speaker system housed within the body of the set.

The new sets will go on sale in June with pricing confirmed as follows: 32PFL9603D - £999, 37PFL9603D - £1499, 42PFL9603D - £1799, 47PFL9603D - £1999.
