Pot that tells you what your plant needs

30 May 2008 15:50 GMT / By Katie Scott

All of your friends laughing at your ability to kill all things green - even the sturdest of cacti?

Well here's a device for you - the rather sleek looking Pet Plant by designer Junyi Heo.

The pot measures soil conditions, temperature, humidity, and water - and calculates those variables based on the need of the plant contained.

It then "tells" the plant owner what its little green friend needs via a series of pictograms on an LCD display.

It’s also smart enough to know if you’ve over-watered and will systematically drain itself into a water vessel.

And it's not not a power guzzler either - the Pet Plant can be connected up via a USB port which both charges and transmits pertinent information to and from computer software, so that you can even keep a tab on how your greenery is growing using your PC.
