Unless it's considerably more efficient in all respects this is a largely redundant and annoying new acronym to look out for.
Microsoft were/are working on something called 'Virtual Wi-Fi' which would effectively partition your NIC in order to connect to multiple wireless networks in tandem.
This Intel architecture would appear to do much the same thing.
