Mozilla has released the second Firefox 3 Release Candidate as a preview release of the open source group's next generation Firefox browser that is being made available for testing purposes only.
Although not for general consumption by the average consumer, it does mean that the next-gen browser is edging ever closer to final release stage, although a date has still yet to be set.
"Some people pretend they have the date. Even I don’t know", Tristan Nitot, Mozilla Europe president told Pocket-lint in an interview on Wednesday.
The latest release fixes bugs and glitches found so far.
"We’ve fixed everything we wanted to fix. We will have to see if the RC2 brings up any new ones."
Preview releases are published to collect feedback from web developers and Mozilla's testing community before advancing to the next stage in the release process.
The final version of Firefox 3 is due to be released in June, when Mozilla hopes to set a world record for the most software downloads in one day.
