O2 has announced it has done a deal with BT Openzone for its iPhone customers.

From 11 July, iPhone users will have access to more than 3000 BT Openzone "premier" Wi-Fi hotspots as part of their monthly tariff, for no extra cost.

O2 says the addition of BT Openzone to O2’s existing arrangement with The Cloud brings the total available public Wi-Fi hotspots for iPhone customers to over 9000.

All O2 iPhone customers receive unlimited access to these public Wi-Fi hotspots as part of their monthly tariff - which is subject to an excessive use policy.

However, O2 has informed Pocket-lint that "as long as you are using the iPhone for personal use, there is no limit to how much data a customer uses in a Cloud/BT Openzone hotspot."
