Onkyo has launched some "affordable" home cinema bits in the UK.

First up is the DV-SP406 DVD player that Onkyo describes as a "low-profile, entry-level" offering. Costing £100, in black or silver, it comes complete with 1.1 HDMI, it upscales to 1080p, plays music CDs and offers USB for playback of Audio/DivX/JPEG files.

Also launched is the HT-S5105, a "class-leading" home cinema receiver and 5.1-speaker package for £350.

Comprising an HDMI-equipped, 5 x 130W home cinema receiver – that Onkyo says is essentially a 5.1-channel version of the award-winning 7.1-channel TX-SR506 receiver - it's partnered by a tailor-made 5.1-loudspeaker package, the HT-S5105.

The HT-R518 home cinema receiver features Dolby Digital/DTS 5.1, DTS 96/24 and Dolby Pro Logic II/DTS Neo:6.

The HTP-518 5.1-channel speaker system features 2-way front channel/centre-channel speakers and full-range surround speakers plus a 90W active subwoofer.

Promising an easy set-up, the system comes with all colour-coded inputs, and a microphone-based set-up system - Audyssey 2EQ.

Available now, the DVD player and home cinema system can be purchased as a bundle, saving £50.
