BT launches Home Hub 2.0

Wireless "N" version available

NEWS: 14 July 2008 15:38 GMT by Amy-Mae Elliott

BT Total Broadband has launched a new Home Hub that claims to provide the best wireless signal of any UK broadband provider.

The new hub offers "N" standard wireless technology which gives stronger and more reliable connections than previous versions when used with other "N" standard kit.

As well as a new curved design, BT says there's also a simpler set-up process, improved security and power-saving functionality.

The new Hub comes with a "fully-featured" DECT phone with what BT's calling "High Definition Sound".

The new Home Hub, worth £90, will be free to new customers who sign up to a BT Total Broadband Option 3 contract, and with Option 2 online orders. Existing customers can purchase the new Hub at half price - £45.

Have Your Say
  • Hopefully they also added the new feature "doesn't reboot randomly several times per day" which was missing from the first model.

  • Agreed. Still, it was better than the alternative, which was when it used to drop the connection and not pick it back up again until I manually switched the flippin' power off and on again!

  • Hopefully this one will work with playstation 3 remote play but I doubt it!

  • They appear to have replaced the "random reboot" feature with a new one called: "Give false error messages that your browser needs fixing when in fact there is a software problem with all 2,000 routers shipped to date".

Unfortunately, most of their support staff are apparently unaware of this problem.

  • I can't believe what a crap system BT has. I've been on networks around the world and can count on the fingers of one hand the number of times I haven't been able to connect or the connection suddenly drops. With BT - bloody miracle if I can connect.

If I calculate the cost of my time spent on trying to connect to BT they will end up paying me to use their internet.
