A new application for the iPod touch and iPhone has been launched that allows you to turn your music player or mobile phone from Apple into a wireless back-up drive.

The new app, called DataCase, is due at the end of July and promises to allow you to keep files and access them when and where you need, on any available computer (Mac, PC, Linux) with no upload program or server configuration necessary.

The application will allow will users to drag and drop files to the two devices and then view your Documents, Audio, Video, and Photos.

According to the makers, Veiosoft, users of the app will be able to view Powerpoint, Word Excel documents and PDF.

You'll be also able to create multiple volumes (up to 16) to separate your data and can set read, write, and browse permissions for each, or even make it invisible to anyone but you.

Volumes can also be set up to alert you before allowing a connection over the network.
