Electro Box has launched the "miShake" portable digital media player in the UK that has a 2.4-inch TFT touchscreen and aims to take on the iPod nano.

As well as the usual PMP functions, the device boasts a loudspeaker and offers a unique "Shocktronix" motion sensor capability that allows users to navigate through songs, videos and images with a shake of the device, or can be used to turn the pages of an e-book.

Offering a 4GB memory capacity, there's also a microSD card slot for expansion, voice recording capabilities, FM radio with recording, pedometer and apparently thanks to the Shocktronix technology - a digital spirit level.

The player gets a dedicated website too that will offer wallpaper downloads, games, and more as well as support.

Bundled with "miBud" earphones, that can be enhanced with Swarovski crystal decorations, the miShake will retail at £119.95 and is available from www.miShake.com.

  • Yet another portable media player that doesnt include a DAB form of radio. Not sure how these company's can claim these things are state of the art when some of the tech inside is decades old! No firm in their right mind should now even be manufacturing FM radios unless its to appeal directly to older 'retired' generations. Get with the program people!! Posted by Matt, U.K.
  • I purchased the miShake over a week ago and personally think it's great. It's so compact it fits in my wallet and the sound quality from the earphones is amazing. I love that it also has a loudspeaker, voice record, Shocktronix technology and a Touch screen, so my ipod my is now collecting dust...no comparison. The digital spirit level is also very cool. • Even though it doesn't have DAB radio, it does have FM radio record which is the perfect feature for me as I am not always around a computer to download. I think I would also make good use of the Step Counter. Will probably get one at the end of the month. Will post some more feedback then.

  • I just purchased mine yesterday, this is amazing, the Shocktronix works effortlessly, loving the step counter in the mi fitness. The sound quality and the visuals are amazingly sharp. Nice touch with the earphones, way better than anything I’ve seen or heard on the market, you can actually have quality sound straight out of the box without having to spend any extra on a decent set of head or earphones. Small, weightless, all with touch screen coupled with amazing sound and visuals, all I can say is thank you. Posted by Richard L, u.k.
