Further to the news we brought you about this new device coming soon, Pocket-lint can now reveal more information about the new Skypephone from 3.

And, as well as confirming the existence of the second-gen VoIP-capable model, we can also reveal that more versions - with different form factors - are due before the end of the year.

Manufactured by Amoi, the company who made the first version, the first Skypephone 2 will see tweaks to the user interface, as well as hardware improvements.

With a "carousel" interface, said to be similar to Android, the phone will be an HSDPA model and will have a 3.2-megapixel camera.

The Skypephone 2 will cost £70 and will be due in a month's time - we will bring you more info as we have it.

  • Lets hope the new handset works better than version 1, which is crap. Bit worrying to see Amoi still in the frame for the hardware - wonder if 3 will get their customer service up to scratch in time for all the "issues" with version 2 ? Posted by Shonky Swann, UK
  • The new Skype Phone from Three.

I think that £79.99 is to much. The type of person that will want this mobile would be Skype users. The other features such as HSDPA would not change the quality of the Skype call much.

The normal person would see that the original Skype Mobile would be the best choice because it is cheaper and offers Skype.

This phone should not be about features that are unrelated to Skype. The 3.2 MP camara is not needed. 2MP is more than enough

This phone is around £50 more than the original. The customer would get the same fuctions but for a chepaer price.

The original Skype Phone would be a Best Buy and should out sell this new mobile
