Medion Akoya E1210 spotted in the wild

Latest version of MSI Wind touches down

NEWS: 24 July 2008 13:35 GMT by Chris Hall

Lurking in a bedroom in Soho, Pocket-lint stumbled upon the MSI Wind, again, this time disguised as a Medion. Medion is sold through Aldi and other stores and offers a range of computers and peripherals.

This version of the popular netbook is called the Medion Akoya E1210 and will be available as part of Aldi’s "Special Buy" offers, sold in stores for a limited time. An Aldi spokesperson confirmed that the MSI Wind – sorry – Medion Akoya E1210 will probably be available in stores over summer and possibly in the run up to Christmas, after great success in Germany.

Prices are yet to be confirmed, but we were assured they will be competitive. To ensure you can get your hands on the latest hot netbook, you can sign-up to Aldi’s weekly Special Buys newsletter on their website.

News of the Medion Akoya E1210 has been circulating the Internet for the last few weeks and with Medion being a favoured supermarket brand, you could now get your hands on this tiny PC with your weekly groceries.

We grabbed a few snaps and spotted some minor differences – the star power light has been replaced with a square and the F10 power shortcut icon was missing. Unfortunately we couldn't confirm whether the functionality is still present or not, because the battery was flat...

Yes, the version we saw had been sent over from Germany so had a German keyboard. Aldi confirmed that any computers they sell will have a standard English keyboard.

So, the clone wars continue, where will it be spotted next?
