Not content with launching a new "bridge" digital camera and four compact models, Nikon has also announced a new model called the P60 on Thursday that will feature virtually no buttons.

The new model, which will be due out in the middle of September for around £299.99, will feature a 3.5-inch touch screen display that will dominate the back of the device.

On the traditional camera tech specs the S60 sports a 10 megapixel sensor and a 5x optical zoom.

According to Nikon's product manager for consumer products: "The S60 embodies a perfect marriage between technology and style," while still offering all the usual array of software enhancements found in the Nikon cameras recently including Face Recognition, D-Lighting and Image Stabilisation as standard.

The camera’s movie function and time-lapse movie mode can shoot 30 fps at up to 640x480 pixels. The 17 Scene Modes, including modes for environments such as beach/snow, sunset, dusk/dawn and fireworks shows.

It will measure 97 (w) x 60 (h) x 22 (d) mm and weighs 145 grams.

The COOLPIX S60 comes with a strap, rechargeable battery and charger, USB and audio/video cables, a stylus touch pen, COOLPIX software suite and 2GB free online storage at Nikon's ‘my Picturetown’.
