Garmin has announced a number of new models that are to added to its entry level nuvi 200 series.

In brief, the new nuvi 215, 265 and 275 models will offer Bluetooth connectivity for handsfree calling, a fast satellite fix, an easy-to-use interface and accurate Navteq mapping. Cyclops safety camera alerts will be included as standard, as will traffic updates (when used with a traffic receiver) and photo navigation.

The popular "Where am I?" safety feature giving the exact locations of where you are, along with location of the nearest hospital, police and fuel stations and contact details for breakdown recovery services is another addition to the models.

"The new nüvi 2x5 products introduce the next generation of affordable portable satellite navigation systems to consumers", said Clive Taylor, Garmin’s director of product.

"The new nüvi’s really focus on simplicity and safety and by adding hands free calling and traffic alerts with our most basic nüvi models, consumers can reap the benefits of Bluetooth wireless calling via a compatible mobile and direct and efficient routing with traffic avoidance saving time, money and the environment."

The nuvi 2x5 series benefits from an upgrade on hardware from previous models which makes the map drawing and routing capability much better. Satellite reception is faster than before too, due to the new HotFixTM feature which stores critical satellite information and can use that to quickly locate satellites and get the first GPS fix.

Individual specs have not been released as yet but the prices for the various models are as follows:

nuvi 215 - £149.99
nuvi 215T - £169.99
nuvi 265 - £179.99

nuvi 265W - £199.99
