SanDisk is claiming that its Extreme III SDHC memory card line-up can deliver read/write speeds of up to 30MBps when used with Nikon's new SLR - the D90.

The manufacturer explains that the new cards deliver a 50% speed boost from previous 20MBps cards, which means, in the right cameras, photographers can record 39 images in continuous shooting mode at 4.5 frames per second with a file size of 6.0MB JPEG L Fine per image.

Once photographers have their shots, SanDisk claims that, coupled with the SanDisk ImageMate Multi-Card USB 2.0 Reader/Writer, still images and video can then be transferred from the new SDHC card to a computer at up to 30MBps.

The new cards are expected to be available worldwide in September.

Snappers can chose between 4GB, 8GB and 16GB capacities, priced $64.99, $109.99 and $179.99 respectively.
