Microsoft is planning a virtual store for its Windows Mobile products to rival Apple's successful App Store for the iPhone platform, a job advert has revealed.

The Microsoft ad for a senior product manager names the rival store as "Skymarket" and describes the post: "This is a unique opportunity and time of rapid change in the mobile industry for a Senior Product Manager in the Mobile Communications Services team to drive the launch of a v1 marketplace service for Windows Mobile".

This follows the news that Google has revealed some details for the beta release of its version of the App Store for its soon to be launched mobile operating system that's called "Android Market".

The ad states that the person in the post will need to have the skills to "make the Windows Mobile marketplace 'the place to be' for developers wishing to distribute and monetize their Windows Mobile applications".
