HMV has revealed plans for its iTunes rivalling service, due to launch in the UK this month.

Although the retailer has already gone DRM-free with some of its catalogue, the new service will offer music streaming and more tracks in the MP3 format.

CEO Simon Fox discussed the launch as part of the financial results announcement, which saw the chain enjoying sales growth of 4.3%, said to be due in part to strong games sales.

Fox said: "As we approach the peak selling period, our focus is on continuing to provide our customers with the very best offers from what is shaping up to be a strong line-up across all product categories for Christmas".

We will bring you more when the service is officially announced by the chain.
