Sony has launched the VGF-CP1 describing the device, somewhat boldly, as a "next-generation digital photo frame, and more".

Based around a 7-inch Clear Photo LCD display capable of reproducing 16.77 million colours, it has integrated 1.6W speakers so you can play music as you view slideshows of your photos.

The frame has around 100MB of built-in memory, offers support for Memory Stick, Memory Stick Duo, Memory Stick PRO, Memory Stick PRO Duo, SD card, SDHC card, and Compact Flash memory cards and has a USB port.

Wi-Fi-enabled, there's a team-up with the Picasa pic website to help upload pics with RSS alerts when new images are added to up to four Picasa albums.

Complete with light sensor that switches it into low-power standby mode when it's dark, it will cost £199.
