OpenOffice 3 Released

13 October 2008 12:40 GMT / By Amy-Mae Elliott

Following 3 years of "continuous improvement", OpenOffice.org has now been released as the "landmark" version 3.0, with a host of new features.

The release includes the basic components of the open source productivity software, which include word processor, spreadsheet, presentation, graphics, formula and database capabilities, that can be supplemented by extensions downloaded from the OpenOffice.org extensions repository.

As well as support for Mac OS X, new features include a revamped look with new "fresh-looking" icons, chart enhancements, improved cropping in Draw and Impress, spreadsheet sharing and enhanced XML support, among many other tweaks and improvements.

The software can be downloaded now for free from http://download.openoffice.org in en-US, da, de, fr, it, ja, ru or sv versions.
